A.k.a What’s new at the Armazem do Mercado and Restock Gallery in Funchal?
We always pass by the Restock Gallery when we are in the Old Town area. The times when we used to buy Madeira souvenirs are long over, but we still enjoy checking what’s new, admiring the latest exhibitions and complimenting the beautiful handmade art.
The Restock Gallery is located inside the Armazém do Mercado building and I have already described what Armazém do Mercado is in my previous post: Funchal Gems: Armazem do Mercado. Today I would just like to let you know about some new, cool things we found there last month.
New section: 1 euro second-hand books in foreign languages!
Looking for English, German, French and Dutch books on Madeira Island? More than that, are you looking for affordable second-hand books? Check out the Restock’s books-booth and their new section full of second-hand books for tourists – for just 1 euro each! The biggest selection is in English, German, French and Dutch, but probably you will find some other pearls.
New handmade souvenirs, gifts, and art pieces
The selection of gifts and handmade Madeira-themed souvenirs was different than the last time we saw it. Fresh and beautiful, but still affordable.
Latest temporary art exhibitions
My pictures are probably already outdated, as the pop-up art exhibitions are regularly changed. I won’t be able to keep up with Restock’s most recent collections for sure. Follow them on Instagram or simply pass by their galleries. Entry to Restock Gallery is of course free of charge.
Once you are there, do not forget to send my greetings to the owners of the RESTOCK Gallery. This is not a sponsored post. I sincerely love the place and its vibe and I wish the owners will continue doing a great job, as Funchal really needs them.
