Wedding venues in Madeira: Oceanview Altar at the Porto Mare

If there is one wedding hotel on Madeira Island that has an overseas destination wedding vibe, that would be in my opinion Porto Mare. Green banana & palm trees, azure blue pools, and most of all: a beautiful oceanview altar – if this is what your dream wedding location looks like, you might want to consider Porto Mare Hotel.

The hotel’s wedding potential is clear from the first sight. A charming oceanview ceremony alcove looked good even without any wedding decorations. The entire garden area is a nicely incorporated mix of green plants, palm trees, and azure blue pools. It is facing south and it looks beautiful especially during the sunset.

A popular option among couples is cutting the wedding cake at a small pool bridge while the wedding guests are standing around the nicely illuminated pool:

Porto Mare – The terrace

My favorite dinner/reception area, which is also most suitable for small-size destination weddings is the terrace visible below. It is ideal for couples marrying in the off-season months and looking for a location with a strong and very attractive plan B in case of bad weather.

Porto Mare is, however, suitable for bigger events too. The small terrace is directly connected with a restaurant, but there is also another event area with a stage, which can be privatized for bigger wedding receptions and parties.

We have not yet stayed in all of these, but we really enjoyed our stay at the Cliff Bay Hotel. I will remember it as a hotel with amazing views, great service, lots of privacy, and amazing pools/solariums area.
